Magic Knight Rayearth 1 Summary Part I (for the manga)

The three main characters in all the Magic Knight Rayearth series are of course Hikaru Shidou, Fuu Hououji, and Umi Ryuuzaki. Hikaru is a normal grade 8 student, but since she lives with her three older brothers she has become slightly 'boyish.' She is as well very highly trained in most martial arts, and she is often considered a samurai. Fuu, however, came from a rich school that was often referred to as a 'computer genius' school. Lastly, Umi came from a rich 'elite' school, but they all did live in Japan.

The first Magic Knight Rayearth series starts out when the three girls meet each other for the first time at Tokyo Tower, for each of their school had decided to have a field trip there on the exact same day. Then, when their eyes lock a huge ball of light blinds then for a moment, but when they open their eyes they discover a crying girl floating in front of them, pleading for them to "save Cephiro!" Just as the girls disappears, the floor beneath their feet started to melt and they were sucked into the mess, only to find themselves falling from the sky in Cephiro! Cephiro is another world, and they had just been transported there! It was amazing and then to make matters even more confusing, a giant flying fish caught them on it's back! The fish then lets them off at a safe spot where each girl introduces themselves to each other. Then from out of no where comes a little boy (actually 745 years old!) and he tells them that his name is Clef, Guru Clef.

He is a Guru, which means that he is a master of magic, and has the ability to teach others how to control their magic. He then teaches each of the Magic Knights, after a few set backs however. He tells the girls about Cephiro, and how the strength of your heart in this world determines the power of your magic! He also tells them about how the evil Priest Zagato has captured Princess Emeraude. This is a big problem, which is made worse by the fact that the princess is not an ordinary princess. In fact, she holds the whole world, Cephiro together by her will power! She kept this world together, peaceful, and a perfect world by the power of her prayer. However, now that she was captured she could no longer prayer for the world's safety and happiness, so monsters and the world started to crumble before the eyes of the Cephironians! He tells them that they are the Legendary Magic Knights who are to save Cephiro from destruction and save the princess from the evil Zagato. Clef tells them as well that as part of the Legend the Magic Knights will have to resurrect the Machine Gods, which are giants robotic like suits that the Knights will wear once they are strong enough to handle them. First of all, the three have to get their unique swords from Presea who lives in the Forest of Silence.

Clef they sends them off to Presea. In the Forest of Silence the three soon find a house that appears empty, and the door in unlocked so they cautiously walk into the house, calling out to see if anyone was there. Then suddenly they find a bunny-like creature in the main room who immediately starts "puu puuu"ing at them! Hikaru thought this was Presea! But before they could get any closer to the bunny a huge cage drops from the ceiling trapping the Magic Knights!

A young lady then walks out from the shadows and accuses the knights of breaking into her house! Umi, who becomes slightly angered by this accusation screams their innocence to the lady, saying that the door was unlocked and no one had answered their calls! The young lady then realized that these were not regular girls, they were the Legendary Magic Knights! She then introduces herself as Presea, one of the greatest sword makers in all of Cephiro. She lets them out of the cage and tells them how to get their weapons.

Closing their eyes and wishing for the weapons that best suit them now to come to them, the three stand there, then magically their weapons floats towards them! Fuu is equipped with a bow and arrow, Umi with a rapier, and Hikaru with a broad sword. Presea then tells them, that in order for them to get the swords that are perfectly suited only for the Magic Knights, they must get the mineral Escudo from the Legendary Fountain of Eternia!

So they are off, and after a hard battle they return with the mineral and Presea makes them their new, perfectly suited swords. Fuu's bow and arrow is replaced by a giant sword that is ever bigger than Hikaru's! Presea then notices that their armor is different, and she smiles and says "Clef has given you evolutionary armor!" The girls are stunned by what she said. She then explains that as they grows stronger their armor will automatically grow stronger and stronger as their hearts, and will power grows. Presea also says that the swords will evolve as well.

With that the three are off again, this time to awaken the first Machine God, located in a under the sea Shrine. But as they approach, Umi gets very feverish and starts to glow blue! Umi says in a monotone voice, just then that "there is a Machine God in this shrine...I hear it calling to me..." *(BTW these are _really rough translations, sorry!) Then, suddenly Umi walks out of the craft they were traveling in before, and goes off on her own. Fuu and Hikaru are left wondering where she went, and as soon as the craft lands they go off to find Umi. However, she appears to have disappeared! Just then, they come across a gigantic door that pushes open easily, and they are paralyzed by the sight of a giant dragon that is perched at the end of the room coming at Umi! Hikaru yells out a warning for Umi, but Mokona stops her from doing anything to help her. "Is Umi-chan going to be all right, Mokona?" Hikaru asks, and Mokona 'puu'ed back positively. But Hikaru, Mokona, and Fuu are blasted out of the room, and the door permanently shut behind them by the dragon.

Meanwhile, in the room Umi is talking to the dragon, (AKA the Machine God of the Sea), and the Machine God demands proof that she is the Magic Knight , and that she is worthy or wearing him. He then tells her that his name is Selece, the Machine God. Umi does not know what to do though, she doesn't have a clue as to how she's supposed to convince the dragon that she _is_ one of the Magic Knights!
